gold dress

I had this shirt I was going to donate but I decided to use it as the top of a dress.

I used bra cups for the top and bought material that I wanted to match.

Here are some pics of the process
This is the shirt before

double slit maxi

I found an amazing maxi skirt with a double slit, but it was nearly $70 and I do not have that kind of money to spend on a skirt.

I decided to make one myself :)

family tree

I had a bunch of scrapbook paper left over and decided to make a family tree out of it to give to my grandmother.

This was such an easy project and it has such a special meaning behind it!

All I did was cut out different size circles and glued them onto a square sheet of scrapbook paper.

I found pictures of my family and went to CVS to have them blown up individually to fit the circle.

I finished it off by drawing the base of the tree and the leaves with my markers and glued other circles to fill in the page.

You can play around with the position of the circles before you commit and glue anything down.

Perfect for a gift for a family member and it is something they can cherish for a lifetime :)

french leopard print nails

Leopard print nails
First paint your nails the color you wish
Using a tooth pick I made poka-dots on the top of each nail

Add black circular shapes around the poka-dots

Fill in the other spots with more dots and your finished!

For the poka-dots you can use a toothpick or the tip of a pen. I normally put a drop on a piece of paper so I can dip the toothpick and make the dots. For the black circles I also use a toothpick and dip it the same way but just use it as you would a pen. Make sure there isnt too much paint on the tip or it will bleed once it hits your nail. You can also buy the nail pen which I have bought at Wal-mart and it is a lot easier. Put your top coat on and you have a super cute mani! <3

Football season!!!!

So as I was scrolling through pinterest I came across football food! Perfect for all the football parties we will be having! Yummyyyy!!!

For the chocolate covered footballs I used bark chocolate and melted it down. Dip the strawberries and they dry quickly. I used white cookie frosting to make the lines. super cute, easy, and so good!!

For the dip I first put in the queso and I used some chips in between to separate the 3dips. Then I spread the guacamole in the middle (McCormick guacamole dip is my favorite!) and then I filled the last part with salsa. you can take the chips out after you are done filling the pan and it will stay in the form. I then put sour cream in a ziplock bag and cut the tip to use like it was frosting to make the end zones and the yard lines.

donate or recreate?

Out with the old and in with the new <3
So I am in the process of moving and have had to go through all of my old clothes and I'm left thinking do I donate it or recreate it. I have a room designated for my closet alone and I have filled three garbage bags full of clothes to donate but of course I took out the stuff that gave me a vision to make something new!

The first thing in the pile to recreate is a poka-dot sweater that was probably my moms way long ago!

From and old sweater to a new dress for me!! Yay!!

How To:
This was super easy to do!
1. Turn the piece of clothing inside out.
2. Place fitted dress on top and pin the sides.
3. Sew the sides and cut off the excess.
4. Cut the sleeves 1/2 inch to 1 inch longer than you want them to be for a seam allowance.
5. Fold and sew the edges while it is still inside out.
6. Put on and time to partyyyy!

I used another dress to pin the sides while it was inside out

So far I have only made one shirt and once it finishes drying I will cut it up into a tank

I will put more up as I make them :)

DIY cover up

I have seen this cover up all over and really every one should make one because it is super easy to do and looks great for a trip to the pool or the beach :)

I bought white jersey knit fabric for another dress I am making and decided to use that. This material is good because it is stretchy and slinky and perfect for the draping effect when you wrap it around.

You can use 1 yard which would cover the length of the dress. I trimmed a few inches because I am really short and I used it to braid the straps for the dress.

The length is 3 ft, 36 inches and width to this particular fabric was 56"

SUPER EASY to measure because all you have to do is wrap the material around you :)

After finishing the edges I attached the braided straps at each corner
Both straps attached
I pinned the bottom of the strap so I could try it on and adjust accordingly

DIY beach towel/bag

This is the perfect DIY for summer!

You can take a large beach towel and make it into a tote to carry your sunscreen, phone, keys and once you get to the beach or pool you can turn it into a towel!

This is super easy...give it a try...if you have any questions let me know and I will be glad to answer them!
I used another towel of mine to measure and trimmed away
the two strips on the side will be used for the straps and the bottom for the bag
cut the bottom piece in half
pin together, adjust how  big you want your bag and sew
center the bag, pin, and sew

fold strip in half and sew
turn inside out
sew straps onto the inside of the bag
this is what it should look like

fold one side
and the other side
fold up
all the way
flip inside out and ta-daaa!

DIY wire bracelet

I found this wire at Walmart in different colors for $1 and thought it would be perfect for a bracelet.

The wire is pretty easy to bend but you can make the bracelet much easier with pliers

rose gold wire

twist the wire just like you would write in cursive
