hair feathers

I am completely obsessed with the feather hair extensions and have a ton of them placed all over my locks. I love them not only because they add a pop of color and an urban feel but they also can be curled, straightened, and last up to 6 months! I switch them from time to time but seriously I love them!

I get my feathers from fine Featherheads and you can check out their Facebook to find if there are any salons near you that offer them or you can order online

sparklers

So I saw a friend make a cool picture with sparklers and thought I would give it a try...

All I did what made the shape of the letter I wanted and put it on the slowest speed...you can also have multiple people in the picture and each of you do a different letter!

It took a few tries but I got it how I wanted :)

how do you think they turned out?

recycling old clothes

I found this old shirt that doesn't fit anymore with crocheted flowers and thought I could use it for the top of a dress.

hole in the wall

So when I was giving my room a makeover there was one little problem with my walls...
My ex boyfriend actually punched a hole in my wall which probably gives you an idea why he is an ex. I never fixed the hole and thought I can just use a picture frame to cover it up. I wanted to paint it with the chalkboard paint too just to add more to the whole chalkboard theme in my room as well!
I got lucky when I went to goodwill and found a chalkboard that was perfect...there was only one problem. It was leopard print with tribal animals in the cut outs. That was definitely not going to go with my black, white, and pink damask bed room.

So I decided to paint over it! It took a few coats of the pink paint to get it solid and I let it dry over night. In the cut outs I decided to use the left over damask scrapbook paper that I had. I think it turned out great and goes very well with my room and you would never know that I re-vamped this chalkboard if I didn't tell you!

The best thing is it covers the hole in my wall!

DIY braided tank

DIY braided tank with fringe

So after going crazy with the tie dye kit I am left with a bunch of bright colored tshirts....what to do with them?

Well I decided to try making a braided tank! Perfect for summer :)
Let me know if you have any questions about the process or what you think...just leave a comment!

cut two slits down the middle about 3inches
fold the shirt down the middle of the back and draw a line as your base and cut (only the back)

cut the three strips all the way down until it starts to curve out
after cutting three strips it should look like this
stretch each strip
once done stretching braid down the center of the back
braid down the middle
cut three 3inch strips on each side of the braid and leave about 1 inch between

cut off the 1 inch strips and cut the three inch strips into 3 sections
once finished braiding you sew each braid to the middle braid

cut off only the sleeves and collar around the seams but keep front and back attached (lower left corner)
cut what is left into three strips and braid both sides and attach to middle braid in the back!

with the leftover sleeve material I cut it into strips for fringe on the front of the tank
ta-daaaa!!

Please leave a comment if you have any questions, requests, or just let me know what you think!!
I hope you like :)

DIY studded shorts

So I bought these shorts on sale and thought I would stud them up to give them a little edge :)
I bought the studs from ebay for $3.99 for 100 and they are very easy to use. You just poke them through the fabric where you want them and press them down.

tie dye for 4th of JuLy

So last week a friend and I were looking through old stuff and found a tie-dye kit from when I was much younger so we thought we would put it to use for our 4th of JuLy festivities :)

First you have to damp the t-shirt and knot it up with rubber bands. You never really know how it will turn out...

once you have it all wrapped up with the rubber bands you add the dye
as many colors as you want later :)
wrap the t-shirt in plastic and let sit for 6-8 hours (I let it sit overnight)
ta-daaaa!!! This is what it turned out like!
